Virus at The Center of Everything

The virus plaguing The Center of Everything ("China" translated into English) is the Communist Party. The structure of The Party and its management system is now the number one health risk on the planet. So long as The Party stays in power, the health risk to us all is immense.

The problem is simple. Right after Tiananmen in 1989, The Party switched from the Lenin-Stalin Communist system where The Party owned and controlled everything to an equally bankrupt Western concept, the Mussolini system.

Mussolini took control of the military, information, and certain strategic industries. The rest he left to markets. But, anyone who contradicted him paid the price. All of the control that Lenin and Stalin got for a fraction of the cost. Hitler called Mussolini a “political genius” for thinking this up. Xi Jinping uses Mussolini’s system today, con gusto.

Mussolini’s system worked so long as the cost of information was high—a long-distance phone call cost a fortune in Mussolini’s day, if you even had a phone—and the speed with which information moved was slow. We were way further back on the Information Cost-Velocity Curve. Central control of information and the media was doable.

When information costs fall and information velocity accelerates, all structures are disintermediated. Your smartphone is many times more powerful than the mainframe computers that came a quarter century after Mussolini’s miserable death. Fully unleashed, this rapid, mass diffusion of information generation and management is death for The Party’s Mussolini control system.

We are now three-quarters of a century after Mussolini. The Information Cost-Velocity Curve is far, far beyond the tolerances of his system. Today we have the Cloud—universal access to unlimited computing at marginal cost—a force greater than anything in history. Makes the Gutenberg press, which unleashed a Reformation that shredded Europe for centuries, look like a zero event.

Worse for The Party, the Cloud and its power of diffusion inflates with the power and number of devices and apps attached to it. If the Cloud inflates faster than The Party’s Mussolini system can control the flow and content of information, the system collapses.

For Xi and The Party, the Information Cost-Velocity Curve is an existential crisis. How can The Party outrun The Rate of Cloud Inflation?

The Party’s answer is control of all apps and all servers. This is why Google is not allowed in The Center. Google is designed to inflate on the Cloud, which rapidly empowers everything it touches.

The Party thought that it could use its control of all apps and all servers to control this process. And, in so doing, control how the people of The Center of Everything see The Party and its bosses. It went way further, establishing a server-based Social Credit System (SCS) that monitors all app use and assigns SCS marks to people. These marks determine the jobs people get, whether or not they get promoted, or even, as in the case of the Uighurs, whether or not they remain free.

The SCS arrested immediate, rapid dissemination of information on the latest corona virus, preventing people from taking fast action. The Party demanded ignorance of the crisis until it was too late.

It gets worse. The Party has known for decades that The Center had to close the “wet markets” where people bought and sold the wild animals that bred the diseases that have long been infecting humanity worldwide. It refused to do this because Party members made too much money by keeping them open.

The Party has knowingly committed two crimes against humanity: one, kept the wet markets open so that new viruses could breed and be transmitted freely; and two, forcibly prevented information about the viruses from moving at web speed to people in The Center and beyond.

This makes The Party our number one health risk worldwide today. It is the virus at The Center of Everything. Let's rename COVID-19 the COmmunist VIrus Disease-19.

Our only solution to this monumental health crisis is the immediate dissolution of The Party and all its Party- and state-owned organizations. The Center must have free speech and a free and open Internet. It must become a fully functioning democracy. For the sake of global health, this is the only way forward.

So long as The Party refuses to give way, The Center will keep generating global plagues.

The virus plaguing The Center of Everything is a plague to us all.
