Dumb and Dumber

Dumb Don called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a “dumb son of a bitch”, making the GOP the Dumb and Dumber, the 2Ds. Useless to any of us. Whatever the GOP used to stand for is gone. No one, least of all the GOP itself, knows what it stands for today. Just a bunch of dummies jabbering on in a tsunami of illiterate, illogical incoherence that deprives voters of any sensible choice. The only smart thing to do is to avoid them completely.
We’ve known since Publius published Don Trump Learns to Travel over six years ago that the man’s intellectual incontinence stinks up everything and everyone it touches. And we’ve known since Publius published Our Constitutional Crisis a few weeks later that 2D leadership in Congress had long since been reduced to blubbering nonsense. And that no one in the GOP was smart enough to understand what was going on or the damage it would cause.
Publius concluded that the shredded 2D was leaving itself wide open to takeover by Dumb Don. And showed what would happen to the Party if it didn’t fix itself fast.
To help them, he laid out the core of modern political policy in American Business Needs Four Guarantees in May 2016 and then in The Growth and Development Party in August 2017. Publius gave the 2Ds their final opportunity in What the GOP Must Do Now in November, 2018.
The 2Ds ignored all Publius’ warnings and was too dumb to implement his solutions, let alone fast enough to win an election. Instead, as Publius said, the GOP turned itself into “slush”. Dumb Don, he said, was like The Boiled Frog. In 2020, the 2Ds got the results Publius so easily predicted and lost both houses of Congress and the presidency.
Americans are lucky that Joe Biden is coherent. Like his polices or not, he actually has them. And they fit into a comprehensible whole that can be executed. And criticized rationally.
The Dumb and Dumber, on the other hand, can only spew streams of incoherent drivel. The more drivel they spew, the dumber they look.
Their only fallback is to slash voting rights in the hope that the remaining voters will support their slush even as it warms into water and runs away.
Worse for the 2Ds, restricting voting rights is exactly the opposite of what anybody who can count would do. Smart politicians want to make voting as easy as possible for all citizens. And then draft policies that win over these citizens with clear strategies to maximize the nation’s market share, scale potential, and employment in the highest value-added opportunities. 2D slush isn’t capable of thinking of this, let alone doing it.
Today, the Wall Street Journal and New York Times published giant, two-page We Stand for Democracy ads against 2D attempts to restrict voting rights. Signed by 112 of the country's major corporations, 406 of its most influential citizens from fashion icons to investment powerhouses, 64 of its top law firms and 70 non-profits including the Harvard, Stern and Dumb Don's alma mater Wharton (8 times) business schools, these ads show what deep trouble the 2Ds are in.
As Publius has painstakingly demonstrated over the last six years, the Dumb and Dumber are not made of the kind of stuff that can rebuild itself. There is no stuff there.
We are at the dawn of a massive, nation-wide political restructuring. Possibly bigger than the century-long restructuring following the Civil War.
No one gets this better than Xi Jinping.
