From the moment Publius first identified Dumb Don’s intellectual incontinence in Don Trump Learns to Travel in February 2016 to Don’s botched impeachment defense, Dumb Don’s Drivel has been constant. He’s drowning in the stuff.
Now he’s drowning the GOP.
In September 2016, Publius published Dumb Don, which remains the core tool for understanding what Don will do next and why he will do it.
Simply put, Don’s ability to learn stopped when he was about ten years old. And he wasn’t much good at it even then. He does not speak English, he cannot read or write and he is able to understand only very, very simple things. His tweets are the Planck Length of intellection, syntax-free blobs of incoherence.
Take his impeachment. On May 2, 2018 in Trump Flunks His TruMP, Publius warned Rudy Giuliani of the Mueller inquiry, "Because of Don’s monster intellectual insufficiencies, his lawyers must fight to the death to prevent him from giving any testimony, ever. Publius has shown that as soon as Don opens his mouth, it’s President Pence time."
Three days later, Giuliani bowed to Publius and did as he was told.
Attorney General William Barr must do the same for Don’s Senate trial. He must under no circumstances allow Don to testify because he will instantly descend into a morass of confusion, contradiction and fabrication. Also, he must not concede to having any of Dumb Don’s top aides like Mulvaney, Pompeo, Giuliani or Bolton testify. They will open enormous questions that Don will not be able to answer without a massive public breakdown.
In the Mueller case, Trump’s written answer to a few transparently simple questions was that he did not recall. Any attempt to answer would have exposed Dumb Don for what he is. Giuliani could not risk this.
Giuliani grasped Don’s problem: he is what he is, really dumb.
Nothing has changed. Allowing Trump’s aides to so much as mumble in a Senate trial would eliminate the “do not recall” defense.
A normal person would have learned from the Mueller report to keep his head down and his mouth shut. Being as dumb as he is, however, Don’s massive mental insufficiencies did not go away when Mueller published.
The Mueller report landed on Don’s desk on March 22nd. Easily the most damning document ever on an American President, it repeated endlessly that the Dumb Dude was not innocent of colluding with Putin to throw the 2016 election. And that Congress had to prosecute him.
But, because English is not his language, Don could not read even the first sentence, let alone the full 448 pages. And, lacking elementary reasoning capability, no one could tell him what the report found because he wouldn’t have understood a word of what they said. Even an explanation of the first couple of pages would have induced a screaming fit.
This presented Attorney General William Barr with a problem. Like everyone who knows Don, he knew that if he so much as hinted what was in the Mueller report, Don would have gone absolutely crazy.
A good lawyer would have warned Don of what was in the Mueller report and carefully crafted Don’s defense. But, Barr knew that Don would take any kind of defense as an admission of guilt and go wild. So, he crafted a vague and ambiguous response that Don, who doesn’t know any better, could take as vindication. Which he did.
Naturally, Barr’s strategy backfired.
Unchecked and unable to learn from the Mueller report, three months later Dumb Don doubled down on his Kremlingate crimes by trying to bribe Ukrainian President Zelensky on an open telephone line. This is 100% consistent with Publius’ Dumb Don and Trump Management Protocol (TruMP). Barr knew this. He should have resigned on the spot.
Like any sentient being, Barr knows that only a very simple, unmanageable mind would repeat, in public, the behavior that had got him in such trouble in the first place. Don is that simple. Barr is drowning in a swamp of Dumb Don’s drivel.
At this point, Barr’s only impeachment defense is that Don is too dumb to understand what he is doing, saying or thinking.
The most bizarre question in all of this is why is Mitch McConnell, fully cognizant of the volume and flow of Dumb Don’s drivel, so willing to drown his party in it? And to go under with them?
He better have a way of coming out of this very, very rich.

It is amazing that even after four years after Publius first showed Dumb Don's intellectual incontinence and reliance on Trumplish, which, because it is syntax free cannot be translated into English, journalists like the Washington Post's Josh Dawsey are still marveling at Don's inability to converse coherently in English. Do these folks not do their homework? Dawsey didn't even bother to explain to readers the implications of Don's August 15, 2016 national security paper, something he absolutely had to do right at the beginning of his piece.

Having lost the election, Don has decided on a rolling coup: He will say that the election is in litigation and there can be no transfer of power until the process is completed. Four more years.
